The most recent volume, Seeing a Slice of Southern Africa My Way, published 31 December 2020, is a journey of continued self-discovery as I plot my way from multi-cultural South Africa with its complex society, to Malawi, with its picturesque and peaceful nature. This third book takes the reader through parts of Southern Africa, and offers a brief glimpse into a little of Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Now in Beautiful and friendly Canada! (3rd June 2019)

Tatiana and I arrived in Toronto Thursday afternoon, 30th May. We spent 3 relaxing nights in the fairly flat and friendly city. Locals are lovely, polite, kind and helpful. We sped up the CN Tower by elevator, arguably, Toronto’s main landmark. It’s apparently the world’s 9th tallest free-standing structure and the highest in North America! Standing at a total hight of 553.3 metres (1,815.3 feet). So yes, it’s tall! Made of concrete, it’s a communications and observation tower located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, Ontario Province, Canada. We wandered around the outdoor observation terrace; 342 m (1,122 ft) above ground! Boy: it was windy up there! After circumnavigating the platform and taking a few photos – hopefully, of the Toronto downtown area and skyline, we went back inside to stand on the ‘Glass Floor for another photo, before going up one level to have another hot drink. The area around the Glass Floor was crowded. Many people find it a little weird standing on the glass as, looking down through it, can give people dizziness and make them feel they will fall through at any moment. We had no such qualms! :). Finally, we travelled up to the SkyPod at 447 m (1,467 ft) above street level. This is an indoor area with more views down over the city. It was quiet up there, no other visitors! :). We were ‘high on the world’! We had a brief wander round with another friendly security staff member, then headed down to ground level and exited the building. Back in fresh air, we asked someone to guide us to a hotdog stand for our evening meal, then it was off to a nearby pub for some local drinks and atmosphere. Eventually, with help, we walked to a subway station and slowly returned to our small guesthouse in the heart of Chinatown. The following day, we relaxed before meeting up with a Greek-Canadian friend in the area of Toronto known as ‘Greektown’. Another nice evening was spent in good hospitality with tasty food in another local pub! The following morning, after a simple journey that became complicated, we eventually made it to the Toronto Bus Station for our Megabus to Niagara Falls, our present location. Tomorrow, Monday, 3rd June, we’re going to investigate Niagara Falls itself! :). Photos coming soon. Thanks for following, Tony :). Don’t forget, first documentary from Ethiopia out this Saturday coming, 8th June, repeated 9th June. So keep watching, listening and following. Thanks and have a great week. Tony :)

Blog post / Tony In the Indian Ocean! (1st May 2019)

Dear all, happy May-day. I’m good, relaxing in the small French island of Mayotte, located somewhere in the Indian Ocean! It’s another tropical and humid day here. I arrived from Reunion yesterday evening, only to be greted by warm, tropical rain – such is life for a traveller! I’m relaxing on a nice terrace in a delightful, peaceful Airbnb. No couchsurfers could or wanted to host me, so, Airbnb it is! I’m here until Sunday,
