Tony and a local Omani guy named Ahmed on board a speedboat made of wood.
Again Tony sitting in the boat, which is close to the rocky shore.
Tony and Ahmed on quiet, sandy Qantab Beach, a village and beach area north of central Muscat. Mainly known by locals. Small buildings on the edge of the beach behind. Barren sandy looking hill raising up in the middle distance.
Tony outside Muscat Royal Opera House in the evening. This large white palatial-looking building opened in 2011.
Sur
Sur is located on the Gulf of Oman in the north-east of the country. The city has a population of around 120,000. It’s an approximate two hour drive from Muscat, going roughly south.

Camels inside an enclosure of metal fencing in the desert. Tony in front.
Tony and two more camels in the desert. The reddish coloured desert sand extending off to the horizon.
Tony sitting with three men inside a Bedouin camp at Wahiba Sands. It is the main building of the family (sleeping quarters seem to be elsewhere). It is traditionally built from wood and plant material. Two of the men are Omani Beduin, wearing traditional white robes and embroidered caps. The third guy is from South Korea.
Tony in a courtyard/enclosure outside the main Beduin building. Again walls all made of wood and other plant material. Sand under foot.
Tony in the desert. A dune rising up in the middle distance behind.
Back in Sur
Tony standing on a circular raised paved area with a view towards the harbour in the city of Sur. Ayjah Lighthouse is out of view in the middle.
View of the round three-storey Ayjah Lighthouse. Located on a small peninsula extending into the bay.
Another view of the lighthouse.
Tony standing in the lighthouse’s doorway.
Tony standing in the shade of the lighthouse tower. In the distance, the buildings of Sur extending along the coast.
